Kia ora koutou - hello everyone!

My name is Elisa, originally hailing from Austria, my heart has been anchored in New Zealand’s beautiful mountain playground for 14 years now. I am a big outdoor enthusiast, love being in nature, hiking, skiing, free-diving, exploring different countries and their cultures, conversing in different languages, connecting and surrounding myself with like-minded and soul-celebrating people.

I am a body nerd, movement professional, fascial bodyworker offering Manual & Movement Therapy and I love sharing what I am passionate about.

My hands-on approach

Believing that not all knowledge is taught in one school, I bring a vast range of tools and experience to my work to create a completely tailored bodywork practice, integrating elements and drawing from various bodywork modalities including: Myofascial Release, Trigger Point Therapy, Joint Mobilisation Techniques, Cupping, Myofascial Stretching, Pilates & Yoga. I assess for, and work with, postural distortions and any imbalances (such as forward head posture, rounded shoulders, hip rotations, pelvic tilts) that we can acquire from repetitive movements, stress, injuries, simply moving throughout our days and stepping out of alignment with ourselves. Together we will release muscular pain, tension, and dysfunction, increase range of motion, restore functional and structural integrity, and create effective long-term positive change in the body.

My movement style

With a background in dance and growing up spending a lot of time in the outdoors skiing and hiking, I have learned the importance of physical fitness, posture, correct breathing, and having a good and healthy body awareness. Having worked through my own body projects (scoliosis, knee surgery, concussion, and other multiple injuries and imbalances as well as emotional and mental stress), I have also realised that continuously looking after my body is my responsibility and priority, everyday, always. After all I believe our greatest wealth is health.

Through my own rehab and practices I have found that the combination of Pilates, Yoga and Self-Myofascial Release is a safe, gentle, yet powerful approach to create body awareness, strength & stability, flexibility & mobility, recovery & longevity and supports overall health.

What is Fascia?

Fascia (from Latin: “band”) is this living matrix, a continuous 3-dimensional web of connective tissue that surrounds, connects, interpenetrates and compartmentalises muscles, tendons, ligaments, nerves, blood vessel, organs and bones in the body. It  basically holds everything in place on your skeleton.

The fascia that covers the muscular system is called myofascia (“myo” in Greek stands for “muscle”). It is important to keep the fascia functioning so that muscles can slide and glide effectively as part of our locomotor system. Stuck, adhered, dehydrated fascia can cause all sorts of issues both in the long and short term.

From your toes to your nose, the fascial system is like a mesh work around and through the muscles, for shape and integrity. These interlinking threads are why when your shoulder pain may vanish as you release tension in your hip or other seemingly separate areas. Release in one area can produce a ripple effect in other parts of the body with the ability to touch upon many systems including the nervous, lymphatic, circulatory and immune system functions.

I feel honoured and privileged to work as a hands-on and movement therapist, sharing my souls work and purpose. My treatments will ensure your safety, comfort, and privacy. I only have one goal: to improve your body’s well-being. Which is why, after just one session, you will feel more balanced, aligned, and relaxed.
