Frequently asked questions.
What is Project Body?
Project Body uses manual, movement and stretch therapies to help people maintain a functioning body. Tell us your goal for the bodywork and we'll integrate different massage & stretch modalities together to create a customised, individual treatment plan.
What is a PROJECT?
A body project is an overall goal for the bodywork - something you are currently working on; i.e. recovering from an injury, a chronic niggle, body maintenance, etc.
What does MFR feel like?
The sensation to the client will be one of a slow and relaxing stroke. The client usually feels a stretching or pulling sensation. It is not uncommon for clients to feel sensations in other parts of the body away from the area that is being worked on.
I am pregnant!
That's awesome! Congrats! Generally it is okay to receive bodywork during pregnancy. If you are experiencing any difficulties let us know during booking whether you have been cleared by your GP or midwife for massage treatments.
Working with you to support a sustainable practice:
To reduce the impact on our environment and to practise sustainably, I kindly ask you to provide your own set of sheets and linen, which you can reuse next time, or as many times as you would like.
When should I not get bodywork?
Postpone your bodywork session if you are experiencing: fever - burns - open wounds - contagious conditions (warts, impetigo, athlete's foot) - right after surgery - acute inflammation - pitting oedema - heart attack - stroke - alcohol inebriation.
Water:
You've increased your circulation with bodywork - take advantage of this boost by drinking water after the session. Hydrate thirsty & brittle cells that were struggling & flush out metabolic waste products that were creating toxic environments when stagnant.
How often should I get bodywork?
That depends on your body project. If it is more acute, a weekly session may be necessary to begin with. If you need maintenance, once or twice every 5-6 weeks. But it all depends on the individual.
Can I have two different bodywork treatments in one day?
It is recommended to have 48-72 hours between different types of bodywork to allow the body to respond to the benefits of each modality effectively.
I have never done Yoga nor Pilates before, can I join?
YES, absolutely! Project Body offers classes (groups and one-on-one) to anyone, no matter what your previous experience is. Movement is medicine for everyone.
