Pregnancy Massage
Pregnancy Massage focuses on common discomforts linked to musculoskeletal, circulatory, and hormonal changes. The focus lies on increasing blood flow to skin and skeletal muscles, stimulating lymphatic flow, loosening adhered muscle tissue, reducing muscle tension and muscular soreness, increasing digestive function, as well as to increase and balance the hormone levels of serotonin, dopamine, and endorphins, which are linked to lifting one’s mood and pleasure.
Prenatal bodywork can be a wonderful way to alleviate common pregnancy discomforts, reduce stress hormones, improve sleep quality, amongst other things, as well as allowing relaxation for the mother-to-be and special bonding time with the tiny human growing inside.
My preferred way of doing prenatal bodywork is in the side-lying position, using multiple pillows of different shapes and sizes to support the healthy alignment of spine and pelvis.
